Stepping Out with Jinx, Little Miss Steps

Archie Comics is celebrating the release of Jinx: Little Miss Steps with two signings in two countries! The first signing with Eisner Award winning artist Rick Burchett will take place on Saturday, May 25th at Star Clipper in Saint Louis, MO. The following week, I'll be signing at Little Island Comics in Toronto, ON on Saturday June 1st.

Free Comic Book Day 2013

Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May 4th!

Come see me at Comic Book Addiction in Whitby, Ontario along with Dale Keown (Incredible Hulk) and Richard Pace (New Warriors). I'll be signing copies of the DC Nation Super Sampler, which contains a "remix" of my story "Magic & Misdirection" from Teen Titans Go #12. Plus, I'll have other Johnny DC and Archie comics to give away in addition to the official Free Comic Book Day offerings.

Jinx 2 Review

Graphic Novel Reporter has posted the first review of Jinx (Volume 2): Little Miss Steps!

"Jinx is back for another charming adventure. The feisty tomboy (updated last year by Archie creators J. Torres, Rick Burchett, and Terry Austin) remains mostly true to her 1940s roots while being fearlessly updated for the 21st century."

Reviewer John Hogan also writes, "I won’t give away the surprise of this second volume, but I will say that I really loved the depth and maturity with which Torres handled it. Everything plays out in a realistic manner without ever condescending to the reader, and Torres deserves credit for never missing a beat with the humor and levity that define these stories."

CAKE

Comic Arts for Kids Expo (CAKE) is a daylong celebration of image-based storytelling for readers ages 2 to 13! Co-presented by Small Print Toronto, Little Island Comics and Toronto Public Library, the event takes place this Satruday, March 23rd at the Lilian H. Smith Library (230 Collge St.) starting at 9 AM.

There are workshops, readings, and signings with creators like the 

Brothers Leung, Claudia Davila, Steve Manale, Evan Munday and more including yours truly.

I'll be assisting illustrator Jennifer Lum in a Checkers & Dot craft session for kids ages 2-8 between 9:00-9:45, then Jen and I will be signing for about an hour thereafter.

Later in the day, I'll be doing a Bigfoot Boy reading with some help from volunteers in the audience between 12:00-12:45, followed by another signing.
